Arbitrary Comparisons

                          1989
TEXAS
Heading out in our ship to the New World
                   Alamo, the historical epic film
                                                 [in my mind's eye swirled,

                   because Port Galveston which was
                                                                 [our destination,
was relatively close to the Alamo's location

Once the ship was cleared by customs and
                                                                        [immigration,
I traveled 239 miles, about 7 hours duration.

        A shot of the cannon,
                said our tour guide Shannon,
was the response of the commander.

               With intrepidity and candor
the soldiers stated, "we will fight"....

With sword in hand like an old knight,
              commander Colonel Travis died...
Killed with him and with the same pride,
              all of Alamo's heroic defenders.
              worthy of immortality contenders..

Impressed I remembered a similar story,
with the same heroism and the same glory....

From all the earthly writers,
they praised Diakos and his
                       [eighteen fighters,

who drawing on their ancestors
                             [heroism perks,

fought against eighteen
                          [thousand Turks...

With sword in hand like an old knight
fought the priest, who didn't know
                                      [the word fright..

Killed on that bridge and with
                                       [the same pride

all the eighteen heroic defenders,
worthy of immortality contenders..
